Botulinum Toxin Type A when injected in to the facial muscles, causes relaxation of the muscles resulting in the smoothing of the overlying skin. It is particularly effective at treating 'brow lines', 'frown lines' and 'crows feet' during facial movements i.e. smiling. Results are evident between 3 and 7 days post treatment and last for around 3-4 months. The most common side effects are generally slight bruising, and swelling around the injection sites which resolve after a few days. Other potential side effects would be discussed at consultation. A free consultation is required to discuss past medical history, suitability for the treatment, potential side effects and to assess the face. Follow-up is also required 2 weeks post treatment and if any adjustments or 'top-up' is required, it will be done at this point.
